Abbey Bake Off for the Macmillan Cancer Charity
The annual Abbey Bake Off for the Macmillan Cancer Charity was an overwhelming success with over 100 cakes being baked and brought to school on 28 September. This event is run by Sue Love, Mrs Blythe and Mrs Page and is a staff only event for a bit of fun and a sweet treat for all staff!
Mr Dickens, aka Paul Hollywood, took on the mammoth task of judging the cakes - from Best Effort, Best Traybake, Best Muffin and Best Looking! He took this in his stride, "this cake is delicious, fabulous layers!".
Mrs Sands, a parent of Abbey students, swept the awards with her stunning range of cakes - from Salted Caramel (Best Tasting), Victoria sandwich, carrot cake and many, many more! She also produced an amazing lettuce bouquet for those staff who are watching their figures as well as a gooey chocolate tray bake for the Vegan staff members!
Ms Roseveare won best decorated cake - a light sponge with the Abbey logo and green lettering! Ms Roseveare was surprised and delighted to be awarded the Star Staff Baker of 2017.
Staff indulged at break and lunch time making donations and discussing the rise and soggy bottoms that were on offer.
The Student Leadership team are running a student cake event on Friday - where more cake will be on offer to all year groups.
Thank you all for your contributions and donations - every penny counts!
