Sean Raggett Update

Former Academy and Abbey School Student Sean Raggett made his debut for Norwich City in the Championship at the weekend.

Sean now a Professional Footballer for Norwich City progressed through the Academy into Dover Athletic First Team. Sean spent three years in the Academy with two of them being a sixth form student at The Abbey School. He played regularly for the first team before being sold to Lincoln City in which he won promotion into League 2 with. Sean also made history by scoring the goal against Premier League Burnley in the FA Cup taking Lincoln the furthest in the competition in their history.

Matty Robinson

Matty Robinson


Matty spent two years with the Academy and in that time earned himself a full scholarship to America. In September 2018 Matty Joins Queen of Charlotte University North Carolina on a full scholarship, he joins Joshua Donnelly state side who is also making a real name for himself. Many more of our students are looking to continue this path as more and more interest keeps coming our students way.

Alfie PaxmanAlfie Paxman

Alfie joined the Academy in 2014 completing two years with the Academy whilst studying Btec Sport. Alfie recently received the Golden Boot award for the National Conference Youth League. During Alfies time with the Academy he was invited into Gillingham Football Club on trial and regularly training for Dover Athletic. Towards the end of the 2016 season Alfie made his debut for Dover Athletic in the National League against Forest Green Rovers at the age of 18. He is currently attending pre-season with the 1st team working hard to gain a contract.

Ira Jackson

Ira progressed from the Academy in the 2016 season into the first team after impressing during pre-season. Ira caught the eye of the Manager and was rewarded with a two-year contract. Ira worked extremely hard during his time in the Academy and we are pleased his efforts are now being rewarded. We hope Ira can go on to be a first-team regular with the Whites in the next couples of years.

Academy national champions2015/16 Academy Team National Champions 

The 2015-16 team were crowned the National Conference Youth Champions after beating Leatherhead FC in the Playoff final to be crowned 'the best Academy in the country'. The same group reached the first round of the FA Youth Cup playing Millwall at the Den. They also reached the semi-final of the League Cup and lost only 4 matches in two seasons.

Sean ReggettSean Raggett

Sean left the Academy in 2012 after completing 2 years studying BTEC Sport. During his second year, Sean signed a contract with Dover Athletic making him an official 1st team player. In 2013 Sean returned to the Academy to continue playing and maintaining his fitness levels. In the 2014 season, Sean made his first team debut in which he has been a regular ever since. Sean has featured in the 3rd round of the FA Cup against Crystal Palace and attracted the attention of many professional clubs. Since progress continued and was rewarded with an England C team call-up in which he has also featured regularly. In the 2015-16 season, Sean was a regular in the Dover Athletic team that reached the Playoff semi final of the National League. Sean is still an England C team International Player and Dover Athletic regular.


At the start of the 2016-17 season, Sean left Dover Athletic to sign for National League Lincoln City FC for an undisclosed fee. Sean is a regular for Lincoln City so far this season.




Joshua DonnellyJoshua Donnelly

JJ joined the Academy in 2013 and completed a BTEC Sport qualification during his two years at The Abbey School. During his time with the Academy JJ was signed with Margate FC and made several appearance gaining excellent playing experience. In 2015 JJ left the Academy after his was offered a full scholarship to the University of Florida. JJ is still in America making waves recently receiving the Universities Sports Student of the year. Whilst in America JJ has attracted the attention of many MLS Soccer teams and has be offered opportunities to stay in the US once his scholarship finishes. He has also been offered a contract with a Brazilian club and is currently weighing up his options living out his dream of becoming a professional footballer.


Loyd HarringtonLloyd Harrington

Lloyd left the Academy in 2012 after completing 2 years studying BTEC Sport whilst at The Abbey School. During Lloyds time he was called up to the England School Boys squad in which he won 5 caps playing for his country. On leaving the Academy he was signed by Dover Athletic 1st team receiving a contract. Lloyd played for two seasons with Dover Athletic before being signed by Ebbsfleet United in 2014. Lloyd also completed his FA Level 2 Coaching badge whilst with the Academy and completed his Level 2 in fitness instructing.








Tom CarltonTom Carlton

Tom Joined the Academy in 2015 after being released by West Ham United. Tom impressed immediately in the Academy and was a regular in the successful FA Youth Cup run which ended against Millwall at The Den. On the back of this Tom was invited into Reading FC and spend a week in accommodation and further impressed being invited back for a further week. Unfortunately it didn't work out for Tom at Reading but Colchester United were quick to sign Tom offering him a 1 year professional contract with the League Club. Tom is currently playing for Colchester United where he recently appeared for the first team during their 2016 pre-season campaign.   







Tom AxfordTom Axford

Tom Joined the Academy in 2012 and completed two year at The Abbey School studying BTEC Sport. Tom was then called up to the England School Boys squad where he was capped 5 times by his country. During his time with the Academy Tom completed his FA Level 2 coaching badge and his level 2 gym instructor qualification. In 2014 tom left the Academy and was offered a playing contract by Dover Athletic. Tom was also offered a position at The Abbey School Sports Centre as a fitness instructor. Tom went on to university in which he completed a degree in Teaching Physical Education and has recently completed his teaching qualification to teach PE. Tom is also a qualified personal trainer and runs sessions at The Abbey School regularly.
