Private Study is supported independent study. It is recognised that the jump from GCSE to A Level is large and to achieve results study outside of lessons is needed.
Private Study is shown on students' timetables and takes place in the Private Study area, where it is supervised, students should also complete unsupervised study in their subjects outside of timetabled lessons.
The Private Study area provides computer and quiet study facilities where students can develop their independent study skills invaluable for Sixth Form study, preparation for university, for employment and throughout their chosen careers. Students are encouraged to manage their time effectively giving each of their subjects allocated study time in which to not only complete work given to them by their subject teachers but also to research the subject in greater depth. This allows them to develop their understanding of the subjects to a greater depth and achieves stronger exam results.
Individual study desks are available for those students who do not need to access the computers. These are made use of by students completing Past Papers, one of the most valuable study aids, reviewing Mark Schemes and Examiners Reports, completing revision both of topics covered in the preceding weeks and for exams and for reading the subject material.
