Dover Athletic Academy 3 – Indonesia U17 2

On the afternoon of Tuesday 26 March, the Dover Athletic Football Academy team were given a last-minute opportunity to play the Indonesia U17 national team (‘Garuda Select’), who are managed by ex-Chelsea and England midfielder Dennis Wise with extra support from Des Walker, who also used to play for England.

The game was played on our 3G pitch and was live-streamed to 7 million people back in Indonesia with live commentary from Alan Smith, ex-Arsenal striker.  

Both teams put in a great performance with the Academy narrowly coming out on top and winning the match 3-2.  A home crowd of excited Abbey students and staff were cheering them on from the touchline. 

This was a fantastic experience for our young players and the club which has now put Dover Athletic on the world map!
