Certificates June 2023
Certificates for the June 2023 examination series will be ready for collection from the exams office from 1st December. Certificates must be collected in person and signed for as they are a legal document. If you wish a third party to collect the certificates on your behalf the request must be made in writing to Mrs H Beaumont: hbeaumont@abbeyschoolfaversham.co.uk
The school is required to retain Exam Certificates for a minimum of one year after they are issued. In fact, they are kept for a much longer period but, due to lack of space, they have to be destroyed after a number of years. If you have taken exams in the previous years and have not collected your certificates please contact the Exams Office to check if they are still available.

Questions And Answers
What do I do if I am late for an exam?
Report to the Exams Office and if nobody is there report to the Main Office. Once we have the message that you have arrived it is usually possible to admit you into the examination room. However, if you are over one hour late to an exam it is unlikely that the exam boards will accept your paper. Please try to avoid being late by leaving home extra early and also check your timetables on a daily basis – forgetting an exam is not a reasonable excuse!
Special Consideration
Special consideration can be applied for if something has seriously affected your performance on the day of the exam. Reasons for application are bereavement (if a close relative or friend has passed away close to the exam), injury or illness (you would usually need a doctor’s note).
If, after the exam, you think that you have a good reason for applying for Special Consideration you must see the Exams Officer immediately or email: hbeaumont@abbeyschoolfaversham.co.uk
What if I am unwell on the day of an exam?
Let the Exams office know as soon as possible. Public/external exams must be taken on the day published – you cannot take it at a later date.

If you are too unwell to sit the paper you should first inform the Exams Office at the earliest opportunity.

You must get a note from your GP; it may then be possible that we can submit an application for special consideration.

If you have a minor illness, please inform the Exams Office – it may be possible for us to find you somewhere else to sit your exam if you cannot cope with being in the main hall.

If you have a contagious illness, please let us know as soon as possible as we may need to find a separate room for you.
Any Other Problems?
Please make sure you are familiar with the location of the Exams Office. It would help with exam planning if you notify the Exams Officer of any problem prior to the exam; letting me know at 9.00am on the day of an exam that you have broken an arm the day before or have a contagious illness will not allow sufficient time for a contingency plan!
