Department Vision

Within the ICT curriculum, students need to learn about the principles and application of ICT and computing together with digital literacy. Organisations and universities are looking for school leavers who are problem solvers and innovators. A high-quality ICT education equips pupils with the right skills to progress onto further and higher education, as well as supporting their future careers.

ICT equips pupils to apply information technology to create products and solutions and with this education, this also ensures that pupils become digitally literate – able to use, and express themselves through, information and communication technology – at a level suitable for the future workplace and as active participants in a digital world.

As home learning began in Term 4 2020, the department had to develop our approach to teaching and use the online Platforms to support the pupils. This meant engaging pupils to ensure the passion for ICT continued. The use of teams for assignment setting and engagement will still be embedded in our practice going forward.
